Give me a break.  I got married.  Have lots of ideas for posts in my head.  Until I get them down I have this to hold you over.

While watching the news this morning, they were reporting a fatal accident where the driver was suspected of  ’DWI while intoxicated’.  Fascinating.

Cheating the system April 28, 2008

Wendy’s used to have a burger called the Texas Double Cheeseburger.  Regular old, 1/4 lb with lettuce, tomato, and onion and it was only $0.99.  I’m not really sure what made it classify as a ‘Texas’ Double Cheeseburger, but whatever.

Side note: You could not get the Texas Double Cheeseburger outside of the state of Texas.  I guess that makes sense.  Probably would make the other states jealous.  I’m pretty sure there was no West Virginia Double Cheeseburger.

Ok, so Wendy’s no longer carries the $0.99 Texas Double Cheeseburger.  You can’t even find it on the menu.  You can ask for it, but it now costs $1.39.  Not really that much more, but it oddly feels good when you can order everything off the 99 cent menu.

Wendy’s now has introduced the ‘Snack Attack’.  It’s a double cheeseburger with mayo (yuck) and ketchup.  And guess what; it’s $0.99.  You can, of course, cut the mayo (and I recommend cutting the ketchup).  But check this, you can add lettuce, tomato, and onion for $0.00!

I give you the new $0.99 Texas Double Cheeseburger disquised as a Snack Attack.

Now, I cannot take full credit of this.  John was the one who informed me of the deal that was.  That was followed by a discussion about how maybe we’re cheating the system.  But because we also order fries and a drink, Wendy’s profit margin probably comes out fine.  So there.  Not cheating the system.  Just using it to our advantage.

Today, it’s Holly April 16, 2008

mmm, lunch!  Had every intention of going to Tom Thumb to cruise the isles for something delicious to say ‘eat me.’  Nothing in particular sounded good, but I was sure to find something, right?***

Got in the car and thought ‘mmmm… guac sounds so good’ and  took a detour to Taco Bueno!

Apparently, Bueno is trying this new thing where they try to be more personal I guess.  The nice guy asked me for my name at the register (even though he was holding my debit card).  So as to not be a prick, I told him my name.  So the rest of the convo (albeit a one-sided convo) goes something like this:

Order taker (OT):  ‘Here’s your receipt.  Thank you, Holly’

OT:  ‘Holly, is three salsas enough?’

Bagger Guy (BG):  ‘Holly, your order is ready.  Holly?’

OT and BG:  ‘Thank you, Holly.  Have a nice day, Holly.’

Quite polite and caring if I do say so myself!  The only thing is that my name isn’t Holly.  Whatever, I just really wanted some guac!

***This is really only important to mention because I told the co-workers I was going to go grocery hunting for something moderately healthy and I came back with Bueno.  (the Chicken Quesadilla Platter if you really must know)

Duke Best April 7, 2008

So it seems you’ve got to have some obscure name for your blog.  How is it that you guys come up with interesting names?  Is it like one of those things like finding out your *ahem* stripper name?  Y’all have done that before right… take the name of your first pet and the name of the street where you grew up… so, my stripper name would be Duke Best.  Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s how it’s done.

For now, no cool name for this blog.  It will come to me.  Just like when Blood Slushie became the name of my Guitar Hero band.  Most excellent, indeed.

so blogging cool. April 3, 2008
